About

Memphis rapper who was among the earliest local artists to secure commercial releases, with "Street Knowledge" appearing in 1992. He operated somewhat outside the cassette-tape underground network, pursing more conventional distribution channels from an early stage. He wrote "Whoop That Trick" for the soundtrack to the film Hustle & Flow (2005), giving him a lasting presence in mainstream cultural memory of Memphis rap. He also co-wrote E-40's "U and Dat," demonstrating cross-regional connections unusual for Memphis artists of his generation.
